Masonry

When looking at masonry architecture it is easy to see the beauty but what most people pass by is the expertise and passion that goes into laying every stone and brick. A historic building that has lasted this long we should focus on what has worked for the last thousand years instead of focusing on making things that we think are better. But history has shown us what has worked.
Classes are Available For One Hour Up To Five Day Classes:
Differences between new construction and why Rome is still standing thousands of years later.
What historic mortar is and understanding mix designs.

“Masonry was not made to divide men, but to unite them, leaving each man free to think his own thoughts and fashion his own truth.”
– Joseph Fort Newton
plaster stucco

Plaster has been around for thousands of years for walls, floors, and hearths. Throughout history, plaster has made many developments starting from clay mud to create walls, floors, and hearths. It developed into using lime and gypsum for decoration on architecture and for statues. These classes focus on the proper evaluation, condition assessment, and repairs to historic plaster systems from ceiling to walls and stucco.
Classes are Available For One Hour Up To Five Day Classes:
Proper removal and replacement of historic plaster
Stabilization of plaster
Wood lathe, metal lathe, and dry-wall repair
Lime plaster, gypsum plaster, and lime/gypsum plaster
Polished plaster and Italian plaster
“I’m going to do the old “Plaster Removal” technique and get it over within one go.”
– Ian Watson
